Morbius stars Jared Leto and will join the web of the not quite MCU-related (or maybe it is MCU-related) Spider-Man cinematic universe. The trailer above was delightfully unexpected, and included some fun easter eggs as to where Sony’s Spider-Man universe might fit in the MCU. Much like the Venom spinoff movie that came out in 2018 and made $850 million worldwide, it’s kind of hard to believe that Sony’s new superhero standalone, Morbius, is even a real thing, but here it comes.
Don’t be surprised if either Tom Holland or Tom Hardy show up briefly in this one; and don’t blink because Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes (a.k.a. Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming) even has a cameo at the end of this trailer and there’s a brief appearance of Spidey himself.
Morbius hits theaters July 31, 2020 with Venom 2 to follow on October 2.
