Disney Harassing Star Wars Fans Using #MayThe4th Hashtag

By now everyone is familiar with the ridiculous attempt made by Disney to place ownership over tweets containing the #MayThe4th hashtag.

Twitter user @Falkoopa_ made an amusing comment about it:

But Disney wasn’t too happy with that, and slapped a DMCA onto FalKoopa_

But here’s the thing, Twitter’s terms of service explicitly state the following:

Twitter terms of service.

 

So by abusing the DMCA system on Twitter to protect its tweet, Disney has violated this term of service. I hope Twitter will take the appropriate punitive measures against Disney for this violation. We certainly wouldn’t want to think that blue checkmarks are more equal than others.
