Story Spotlight: Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures

One last time around on this crossover, as I talk about the Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures mini that crosses over the animated incarnations of both shows (the then current 2012 Nickelodeon incarnation for the Turtles). And it…feels just like how an animated crossover should go!

This tells the story of inmates from Arkham have disappeared and it’s soon made clear someone has opened portals that take them to the turtles universe where some of the villains try to make their mark on a world without Batman. At the same time the turtles are detecting someone is using the portal technology of the Krang to open portals all over the city! This eventually leads them to meeting up with Batman and, after the traditional misunderstanding, they team up! What transpires is them more or less cleaning up the already made mess, taking out Joker, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, etc before taking down the man behind everything…The Mad Hatter! Then, for an epilogue issue, we skip years later to the Gotham Knights/Season 4 era of Batman as the Krang invade Gotham!

Like I said earlier, this felt like how a crossover between these two shows would play out and it is glorious! The artwork by Jon Sommariva captures both shows, and Matthew K. Manning handles them equally as good! The best part is the two page homage to the Batman TAS Intro with Michelangelo in place of Batman!

Overall I highly recommend this if you enjoyed the main trilogy. I also give my two cents of the animated movie adaptation of the first mini.
