Prof. Geek’s Review: Legendary’s Godzilla/Kong Tie-in Comics

I’m surprised at how many fans of Legendary’s Godzilla movies don’t realize that they are part of a shared universe. Legendary’s marketing could certainly do a better job of cluing people in to the fullness of the universe they’ve built so far, including Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), and Godzilla: King of Monsters currently in theaters. With the latter’s under performance at the box office, many, including myself, are worried that 2020’s Godzilla vs Kong will be the end. But if many fail to realize the films are a shared universe, even less are aware of the comic book tie-ins. An official prequel comic accompanies each of the three films. They feature such tales as Dr. Serizawa Sr. and Monarch first encountering Godzilla, the birth of Kong, and the first meeting of environmental terrorist Jonah Alan with Dr. Emma Russell.
