Man and Superman: Professor Geek’s Review (Video)

In 2006, Marv Wolfman and Claudio Castellini created an insightful and inspiring Superman story about Clark Kent’s first move to Metropolis. It was slated for a line entitled Superman Confidential, that focused on Superman’s early days. That same line that gave us Darwryn Cooke and Tim Sale’s great Superman Kryptonite was Dan Didio’s idea, but thank God Cooke, Sale, Wolfman, and Castellini did not follow Didio’s vision. Instead they created stories that honored the aspirational Man of Tomorrow without retroactively deconstructing him with a traumatic past. See my review below which situates Wolfman and Castellini’s Man and Superman historically, literarily, and evaluates it as both a story and a Superman story.
