WandaVision Director Being Eyed to Helm MCU’s ‘Fantastic Four’ Film

When it was originally announced, Marvel was planning to have Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts helm their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. But a few months back Watts left the film as he needed a break from Superhero movies. No replacement was named and at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced a release date for the film, November 8th, 2024.

We’ve been awaiting to hear who the new director will be and now multiple sites are reporting that WandaVision director Matt Shakman is in talks to make the film. Rumors of his involvement have been swirling for weeks and insiders are saying that it’s still early and no formal offer has been made, but things are headed in the right direction.

Shakman earned an Emmy nomination for Best Director for Wandavision, the first MCU television series. While still more than two years away, it’s expected that the Fantastic Four will be a major film for what they’re calling the Multiverse Saga and it kicks off Phase Six of the MCU.
