Tom Cruise Releases New “Top Gun: Maverick” Trailer at Comic-Con

Near the end of the “Terminator: Dark Fate” panel, Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on to hype his forthcoming sequel film Top Gun: Maverick to roaring applause in Hall H. 

Ed Harris plays a high-ranking officer opposed to Cruise’s character who is now a flight instructor in the Navy.

Lots of thrilling flight sequences, new hardware, along with brief glimpses of the bomber jacket, the crotch rocket, and of course Cruise’s signature Ray-Ban sunglasses. We even got a shot of some sweaty, shirtless volleyball action.



Paramount pushed the film back to 2020, after originally scheduling it for 2019, in order to improve some of the flight sequences. The original Top Gun was a huge success, grossing over $350 million worldwide from a $15 million budget.

Joe Kosinski is directing the sequel to 1986’s “Top Gun,” from a script by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing along with Tom Cruise and Skydance CEO David Ellison.

Jennifer Connelly is said to be the new love interest and actor Miles Teller portray’s Goose’s son and Maverick’s new protege. Val Kilmer will also be reprising his role as Iceman.
