At the D23 Expo this weekend, there was of course the expected Lucasfilm news, mostly centered on Star Wars. The cast of Andor was on stage talking about their upcoming series. It has been confirmed that the series will be two seasons of twelve episodes each and it takes place five years prior to Star Wars: Rogue One. Along with the cast, they released a new final trailer for the series which is set to debut on September 21st with three episodes dropped at once.
Six-episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will be premiering October 26th and will feature three episodes with Ahsoka Tano and three with Count Dooku. All six will be dropped at once and Disney has released the following new trailer.
It wasn’t ALL Star Wars. D23Expo attendees also got to see this first look at the upcoming Willow series which features the return of original cat members Warwick Davies and Joanne Whalley plus new additions Erin Kellyman, Ruby Cruz, Ellie Bamaber, and Christian Slater. The series will debut November 30th. Here is the new trailer.
Finally, Disney dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian. In it we of course see Pedro Pascal back as Dinn Djarin, Carl Weathers as Grief Karga, Emily Swallow as the Armorer and Katee Sackhoff as Bokatan Kryze… but we also get to see that Mando is going to team up with a character from the original film… R5-D4, the red and white droid with the bad motivator unit.
Looks like Mando is going to need a droid as his new co-pilot. Though no specific date has been set, the series is expected to return in 2023.
While a teaser trailer was shown to those lucky enough to be in attendance, the word is that the footage from the next Indianda Jones will remain exclusive to D23, although it would be safe to assume that it’ll be made available for public consumption eventually. Ford did break down in tears when the sizzle reel had ended, though, so we could be in store for something special given his famous stoic disposition.
Are you sufficiently entertained?
