Taylor Kitsch Escapes LA to Build Sober-Recovery Commune for Vets in Montana

Taylor Kitsch, star of Friday Night Lights, WACO, and even portrayed Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has revealed that he relocated from Los Angeles to Montana in search of tranquility. Kitsch told The Hollywood Reporter that his personality never quite blended in with Los Angeles.

“I got a later start in the business, and I was able to have a sense of who I was and what I needed,” he said. “Being in L.A. was never a great thing for me, and I love being out here — there’s just so much peace to grasp. That’s what this place represents to me: It’s not going to solve every problem, but hopefully it will help at least one person work toward what they need.”

Kitsch has stated that he has been working to establish a sober-recovery community for veterans in the city of Bozeman, providing a home, cabins, and other resources for individuals attempting to clean up their lives. “I’m just really excited about this, about it being a base camp for people to empower themselves,” adding that “every fucking nickel” for this effort comes directly from his bank account.

Kitsch follows Alexa PenaVega, Katy Perry, Kot Von D, and rapper 50 Cent in relocating from Los Angeles to a place with a more tranquil lifestyle. Learn more about Kitsch’s veterans project here.
