Matt Reeves’ Planned ‘Arkham Asylum’ TV Series Cancelled at Max

According to Deadline, a report circulating around the entertainment news ecosystem says that the planned Arkham Asylum series that was in the works from the Staircase creator Antonio Campos is no longer moving forward at Max. This was a very confusing project as it was supposed to be something the previous regime at DC agreed to and was going to be produced by The Batman writer/director Matt Reeves.

But later word came when James Gunn and Peter Safran came on board and said that the series would be part of the main DCU that the pair were developing with the upcoming Superman movie and not part of Reeves’ Batman offshoot. Gunn said this series was one of the first things they greenlit upon signing on. It seemed odd to have Reeves create something related to Batman yet outside of his take on the Caped Crusader.

With multiple sites confirming that its not moving forward, but adding a “yet” caveat indicates there is more to this story.
