Strange: Director Scott Derrickson Oddly Exits Multiverse of Madness

The director in happier times…

Variety reports that Scott Derrickson is stepping down as director of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Back when the Doctor Strange sequel was still exciting…

The studio confirmed his departure in a statement, attributing it to “creative differences.” Derrickson, who oversaw the first Doctor Strange, will remain as an executive producer.

As the Christmas holidays wind down, so do hopes for a horror themed Marvel film…

“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ due to creative differences,” Marvel said in a statement. “We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.”

The break-up hits the press…

Derrickson also said the decision was mutual. If you’re looking at the screen grabs included in this post, it appears that fans can expect a lot less emphasis on the horror elements that were promised for this sequel.

Scott seems to be able to tweet freely about his former employers… look how happy Oscar looks.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
