In its second official weekend in theaters, Wonder Woman 1984 dropped 67%, brining in $5.5M with a two-week total of $28.5M, not the kind of numbers Warner Bros expected when filming began of course, but the film is first place in the box office during the pandemic and extended ‘stay-at-home’ orders. Overall box office for the weekend is only $13M compared to the record set four years ago at this time of $219.5M when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the top of the charts.

And the news on the streaming side isn’t any better as reports of glitches with HBO Max continues. The majority of the problems reported to @HBOMaxHelp seem to be coming from Roku devices, but there seems to be issues with he app on Samsung Smart TVs as well. These complaints range from not being able to use the app at all to all other shows are fine but the picture quality of WW84 being unwatchable.

 

 

The reaction to the film has also been souring. It’s initial 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes has plummeted to just 60% and audiences giving the film a ‘B+’ compared to the original pic getting an ‘A’. In the meantime, Warner Bros. has already green lit a third installment.
