Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Production Halted

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been filming in the United Kingdom, leading many to grow concerned over rising COVID cases in the country affecting the Marvel Studios production. Luckily, despite another U.K. lockdown, the project was given the go-ahead to continue filming in London.

The multiverse-traversing adventure brings characters together, old and new, such as Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer, who returns from the first film, and Xochitl Gomez’ reality-hopping America Chavez. Joining Benedict Cumberbatch as a co-lead is Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch, who will be sure to solve, and possibly create, some magic-based mishaps for the Sorcerer Supreme.

But in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live promoting WandaVision, Olsen also revealed that the London production of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been temporarily halted.

Olsen states that since “hospitals are overwhelmed [in the U.K., they] can’t go back to work until that calms down.”
