Marvel Studios started off the week with a new Black Widow trailer with some additional footage and a narration by Scarlett Johansson. The long-delayed film is now set to debut in theaters and on Disney+ on July 9th, and while the character of Natasha Romanoff was killed at the end of Avengers: Endgame, the studio had at least one more story to tell about the former Russian assassin turned hero.
The trailer of course features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff and David Harbour as Alexei Shostrakov, but we also get to see Ray Winstone as Dreykov and flashbacks of their younger days with Ever Anderson as young Natasha and Violet McGraw as young Yelena. Anderson is the teenaged daughter of director Paul W. S. Anderson and action star Milla Jovovich. This is her second role having played in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and she’s slated to play Wendy in Disney’s upcoming live-action Peter Pan & Wendy. McGraw has been in the Haunting of Hill House, Jett and Doctor Sleep.
While we see a lot of the footage from the other trailers including the airborne fight with Taskmaster, this trailer feels more personal and includes footage from other films where Natasha appeared. The film was originally slated for May of 2020 but has been postponed numerous times and will now appear in the theater and on Disney+ on their Premium Access option on July 9.
Oh yeah, and here’s that Loki trailer…
Loki hits Disney+ on June 11.
