The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is attached to write the scripts for a TV series adaptation of Tomb Raider. This is part of her over-all deal with Amazon, which will be the home of the new series.
This will be third live-action adaptation of the video game where the 2001 and 2018 film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, respectively, as the adventurous archaeologist Lara Croft.
Despite criticisms, Waller-Bridge is apparently in high demand in Hollywood after her breakout series Fleabag launched and among her recent credits are the James Bond film No Time To Die and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, so some misguided producer seems to think she must be a good fit for Laura Croft.
After their miserable handling of the Tolkien-adjacent series The Rings of Power, I can speculate how this latest news is going to work out.
