Kevin Feige Reveals MCU’s ‘The Fantastic Four’ to Be a “Period Film”

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is sharing details about the upcoming film The Fantastic Four. The film starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch got an update from Feige revealing the story will be set in a version of the 1960s.

“It is a period film, and there was another piece of art we released [below] with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol. There was a cityscape in that image,” Feige said on The Official Marvel Podcast. “There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know or the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say…” Feige also revealed that The Fantastic Four is about to start filming and it will start on the Monday after Comic-Con, which would be July 29.

The cast of The Fantastic Four also includes Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, and Natasha Lyonne. The Fantastic Four is set to open on July 25, 2025.
