The first trailer for the new Jumanji movie, entitled Jumanji: The Next Level, has just been released -- and if the movie itself is anywhere near as funny and entertaining as this trailer, then The Rise Of Skywalker has its work cut out for it this holiday season!
The follow-up to Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle has The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan returning to reprise their roles as the Jumaji video game’s central characters. However, a fun twist is that The Rock’s and Kevin Hart’s characters are now controlled by two old men, played by Danny DeVito and Danny Glover! This twist brings a whole new dynamic to the film’s central adventurers, and (if the trailer is anything to go by) it is hilarious!
Here’s the official synopsis of the film from Sony:
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Just like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle went head-to-head with Star Wars: The Last Jedi during the Christmas season, Jumanji’s sequel is set to run opposite Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker during December of 2019. The previous Jumanji film did great numbers despite its competition, pulling in $404 million worldwide. But considering it only had a $90 million budget, that film was a huge hit for Sony. With interest in Star Wars at an all-time low at the moment, will the next Jumanji successfully pull enough business away from The Rise of Skywalker to hurt it at the box office? Considering this trailer is 1,000% better than the current Rise Of Skywalker trailer, I have a feeling that might just be the case!
