Ironheart’s Inclusivity: Disney adds Trans Actor & Drag Queen to MCU Series

Disney is increasing its focus on progressive gender politics in their upcoming Ironheart Marvel series, based on a derivative character from the Iron Man comics.

Just days after the show also hired drag queen Shea Couleé, a RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni, the studio has cast transgender “non-binary” actress Zoe Terakes in a significant supporting role. Terakes, an Australian who identifies as “non-binary” and “trans masculine,” was born a woman.

Deadline was the first to break the news of Terakes’s addition to the show, noting that specifics on the part have not been made public. Terakes first announced the news on her social media.

In the upcoming Disney+ original series Ironheart, Dominique Thorne plays Riri Williams, alias Ironheart, an inventor who, like Tony Stark, builds a superhero suit of armor. She actually stole her tech from Stark, but why quibble about such insignificant details.
