‘Dune: Part 2’ Just Bumped the Release of ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Sequel

The journey back to the desert planet of Arrakis may take longer than expected.

Variety reports that “Dune: Part Two,” the second chapter in the Warner Bros. and Legendary sci-fi epic, has been postponed and will now open in theaters on Nov. 17, 2023 instead of Oct. 20, 2023.

On its new release date, the “Dune” sequel is scheduled to open in theaters alongside Lionsgate’s “Hunger Games” prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and Universal’s “Trolls 3.”

Warner Bros. and Legendary, who co-produce “Dune” and other blockbuster franchises, also announced that an untitled “Godzilla vs. Kong” film will be released on March 15, 2024.

Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem are returning for “Dune: Part Two,” with Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Christopher Walken set to join the cast. Director Denis Villeneuve is expected to start filming the “Dune” sequel, which follows the second half of Frank Herbert’s seminal novel, later this year.
