Black Widow’s Sister Florence Pugh Set to Lead the Thunderbolts?

Florence Pugh has quickly become a fan favorite because of her appearance as Yelena Belova in both the Black Widow movie and the Hawkeye series on Disney+. While trying to figure out where the new Black Widow may pop up again, some of speculated that she would be part of the upcoming Thunderbolts team. Now there is a good chance we’ll learn of the line-up for the Thunderbolts next weekend at Disney’s D23 event, but Pugh’s place on the team seems to already be a lock.

While on a podcast called The TownDeadline’s Justin Kroll described the upcoming film as a vehicle for Pugh. Of her he said, “[Pugh] has got the Marvel superhero that’s already got a spin-off. Upcoming for her, actually, on that character is this Thunderbolts film, which is basically Marvel’s Suicide Squad. Hopefully, it has better results. But the concept is it’d be her leading the team of like Wyatt Russell’s [John Walker], Daniel Bruhl’s [Zemo], those anti-heroes that aren’t exactly good but aren’t exactly bad.

So there’s that. And people seem to like the Yelena character.” It wouldn’t surprise anyone for her to be on the team, and she seemed to be leading the other Widows in the beginning of Black Widow, so this makes a lot of sense.

We’ll have to wait and see if it’s confirmed next Saturday, but it certainly aligns with Disney’s trend of promoting women as lead protagonists in many of their films.
