In the middle of December last year, news broke on Mamoru Hosoda’s (Mirai, 2018) next animated Feature ‘BELLE’, with Studio Chizu and sales company Charades back in the mix again. What followed this news was a two month blackout until recently when, on various news outlets, a teaser dropped.
Full title of BELLE: Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime (Dragon and Freckle Princess, apparently), the film tells the story of a young high school girl ‘Tin‘ living in two worlds; modern day Japan, and the virtual world of ‘U’.
Mamoru Hosoda being no stranger to virtual worlds with Digimon and Summer Wars in his oeuvre, BELLE’s execution should be promising to say the least.
BELLE: Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime is set to release this Summer, no exact date given as of yet. This will be the 8th feature length animated film by the celebrated director, and if that 30 second trailer is anything to go by, it is not to be missed!
