An Interview With Sci-Fi & Fantasy Master Alan Dean Foster Himself

Last Friday, February 21, 2020 will be a day long remembered. No, not because DC Comics fired their long time co-publisher! The day in question is memorable for me because I was invited by Orville Nation to be among an honored panel of guests to have a conversation with the great Alan Dean Foster!

Meet the Man Who Wrote 'Star Wars'

Who is Alan Dean Foster you ask?

Alan has written many books that have shaped and inspired many people for that last 50 years! Alan Dean Foster’s work to date includes excursions into hard science-fiction, fantasy, horror, detective, western, historical, and contemporary fiction. He’s also written numerous non-fiction articles on film, science, and even scuba diving, as well as having produced the novel versions of many of our favorite films, including Star Wars, the first three Alien films, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Alien Nation, The Black Hole, Terminator, Transformers, and The Chronicles of Riddick.

His other works include scripts for talking records, radio, computer games, and the story for the first Star Trek movie. His novel “Shadowkeep” was the first ever book adapation of an original computer game. His work has been translated into more than fifty languages and has won awards in Spain and Russia. Foster’s sometimes humorous, occasionally poignant, but always entertaining short fiction has appeared in all the major SF magazines as well as in original anthologies and several “Best of the Year” compendiums. His published oeuvre includes more than 100 books. Here a handy link to his Wikipedia page

My take away from the two and a half hour stream above, is that Alan just simply loves science fiction and humor! If he can insert it into his story, he will! Plus, he had a few choice words regarding Star Trek and Star Wars that I think fans will find fascinating. On the panel are Richard Meyer Burnett, Paul Jenkins, and Drew Taylor from Bounding into Comics having a gloriously entertaining and riveting conversation with the great ALAN DEAN FOSTER! There is no reason to keep your attention any longer, watch the video and then head over to PJ’s ORVILLE NATION Youtube channel for more great content!
