HBO signs Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin to a new five-year overall deal. The author will develop content for both HBO and HBO Max under the new deal and is reported to be worth in the mid-eight figures. Martin was previously under an over-all deal with HBO that he signed in 2013.
His novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, inspired the groundbreaking Game of Thrones series, which has an prequel series, House of the Dragon, currently in production. Other projects in the works are 9 Voyages aka Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, 10,000 Ships and an adaptation of Tales of Dunk & Egg. There is also talk of a GoT animated series.
Outside of the GoT universe, Martin is executive producer on Who Fears Death and Roadmarks, both in development for HBO.
