American Film Institute Lists Joker in Its Renowned Top 10 Awards

 
 
The American Film Institute has announced the recipients of the AFI Awards for 2019, the top ten films and TV shows “deemed culturally and artistically representative of this year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image.” And there is a Joker in the deck!
 

Todd Phillips’ Joker landed on AFI’s list of movies of the year, joined in the top 10 by other notable 2019 releases including 1917The FarewellThe IrishmanJojo RabbitKnives OutLittle WomenMarriage StoryOnce Upon A Time in Hollywood and Richard Jewell.

 

With Joker’s appearance on the prestigious list, it marks the third year in a row that a comic book/superhero movie has been included with Black Panther making the cut in 2018 and Wonder Woman doing the same in 2017.

 

HBO’s Game of Thrones and Watchmen joined Chernobyl, Succession and Veep as TV programs of the year.
