From Noob to Pro: Improving Your DotA 2 Skills

When it comes to MOBA video games, few go as hard as Dota 2. While the gameplay is quite straightforward, mastering it takes a lot of time, patience, and skill due to its complex learning curve. But, if you’re dead set on accomplishing great feats in this highly engaging game – make sure to keep reading as we’ll discuss what you need to get from noob to pro.

The Popularity of Dota 2

Dota 2, created by Valve, is a MOBA video game that came out on the PC all the way back in 2013. It involves two teams of five players battling against each other to defend their Ancient, a structure located in their relevant bases. Each player can select a hero who has a unique skill set and primary role. While initially only used for entertainment, the game quickly evolved, thanks to its free-to-play model, and became incredibly prevalent in the esports scene.

In fact, the popularity of this game is so immense that there are countless people placing bets on Dota 2 events via online sportsbook platforms. This is something you have probably already heard of if you’re part of the Dota 2 scene. But in case you haven’t, similarly to how one can place bets on the outcome of football matches, fans of the genre can place a wager on which team they think will win a specific tournament.

Even though this can be considered an old game, at least by gaming standards, its relevancy has not wavered, especially in the circles of hardcore gamers. And we can expect even more to come in terms of virtual goods, loot boxes, and battle passes.

Tips to Elevate Your Dota 2 Skills

The only way to get better at something is to continuously do it. So, try to slot in a gaming session whenever you have availability, since each game on average lasts 30 to 50 minutes – some careful planning may be required. Make sure that you play the game with the right team, and perhaps try out a few different heroes until you figure out what primary role fits you the best.

Just like with any pursuit, even a gaming one, practice makes perfect, but that alone isn’t enough. Thus, we’d recommend watching high-skilled teams play the game in question, whilst analyzing their strategies. You couldn’t find a better place to do this than current e-sports Dota 2 events like the EPL World Series: America Season 11.

Similarly to this, you should record your own gaming sessions, both the wins and losses. Get a notepad out and write down what worked and what didn’t. Then, try assessing how you could have done better in both scenarios. This will be tedious, but it will serve you well in the long run and you will, in time, automatically, do better.

When you take a new journey such as this one, you may feel put off by losses and how challenging it is. But the fruits of your labour will soon lift your spirits, and make you appreciate all the hard work you put into this. Without further ado, turn on your laptop, open up Steam – and game on!
