Typically, the comics coming out of the big two have been mediocre at best. Don’t get me wrong, we still have our good runs, such as Batman and Detective Comics, but we’ve seen a lot of politics added in, amongst other derivative or stereotypical ideas.
But yet, as consumers, and comic book fans, we continue to read in hopes that we find something spectacular. The “spectacular” that you were looking for, is not going to come out of the big publishers. It’s going to come out of comicsgate.
Not only are the books currently coming out of comicsgate so well done, this one is at the top of that list. Flying Sparks by Jon Del Arroz was so shockingly good I was kind of left speechless. I was left speechless on how to review the book without seemingly being overly bias to a community that I’ve learned to love. The bias may be there, but so is the talent.
In my video below I break down Flying Sparks, not just why it was great though, even the flaws.
