Kodansha previously held its Magazine “Marvel” Manga Award for its Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2017 and 2018. The contest accepted submissions of one-shot manga stories using Marvel Comics characters, with the winner serializing their story. Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima served as judge for last year’s contest.
