Rumor has it that Marvel Studios has begun early development on a project featuring the Thunderbolts. In the Marvel Comics, the Thunderbolts are a team of supervillains-turned-heroes. Baron Zemo, a longtime enemy of Captain America and the Avengers, reunited villain group Masters of Evil when Earth’s mightiest heroes appeared to perish against new threat Onslaught. The costumed villains then posed as a new generation of crime-fighters in the absence of the real superheroes, with some ultimately emerging as reformed do-gooders when masquerading as heroes for their own gain.
The Hashtag Show, stated that a Netflix series based on the popular villain team was currently being developed for the second phase of the Marvel/Netflix deal. As always, reports as big as these should be taken with a grain of salt. Even if true, it is still unknown whether this is actually a movie, Netflix, Hulu, or a Disney+ series. Any is plausible, considering the heavy emphasis that is being placed on Disney+ and the fact that the heroes Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk are making their debuts in their own Disney+ shows prior to potentially moving over to the films in the future, it would make the most sense to go to Disney+.
This premise currently makes sense though, seeing as how there doesn’t really seem to be an Avengers team running around anymore, after the events of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
