Marvel Comics Doubles Down With More Cringeworthy ‘Superheroes’

How does it feel to live long enough to see all your favorite franchises go down in flames?

Just days after the embarrassing roll out of Marvel Comics brand new superheroes, the largest publisher of comics is back with a new batch of heroes that are just as cringe as the last ones.

Marvel Entertainment has rolled out their latest superhero team that will serve as “sidekicks” to various X-Men characters named “Children of The Atom”.

While the names of these heroes have yet to be revealed, writer Vita Ayala gives a brief description of what to expect from these new heroes. Children Of The Atom are X-Men sidekicks who have similar powers to the mainstay X-Men they work for. Ayala explains that the new team are a representation of Generation Z.

Because they are “Zoomers” as she calls them, the heroes have Tik Tok accounts, Instagram accounts, and they also moderate their own Reddit communities. Ayala explains that the team also includes cosplayers and musicians.

“What makes the new cast special to me is that they are reflective of a lot of people I know who look up to what the X-Men stand for, and have taken it upon themselves to further those ideals. These kids are exactly the kids who, in real life, have posters of Storm and Wolverine in their rooms, who grew up seeing them as heroes and want to live up to that.” Ayala Told Marvel Entertainment.

The selling point of this series will be how the established X-Men interact with their sidekicks. The team includes a female Cyclops, black female Gambit, black male Angel, an Asian Nightcrawler, and a overweight male Jean Grey.

Written by Vita Ayala and illustrated by Bernard Chang, Children of the Atom #1 is scheduled to go on sale April 15th from Marvel Comics.
