As Mainstream Comics Crumble, Creators Flock to Crowdfunding


Shi creator Billy Tucci had the following to say about the terrible situation the Big Two [Marvel & DC Comics] now find themselves in:



The more creators who distance themselves from the Big Two, the clearer it becomes the major publishers will eventually collapse. Especially if they vehemently refuse to make any reparations to their artistic and business model, let alone oust the editors and publishers who allow this abuse of their properties to continue.


All that said, I do hope the Big Two will one day be bought by separate sources with better ideas who’ll actually make an effort to clear away the worst messes of the past decades, making room for more coherent paths to be taken. For now, those artists and writers who are turning to indies have made a good choice.
