Having worked my way to the end of the first season of Amazon Prime’s Hunters, I guess I know now why Al Pacino was cast, rather than a Jewish actor. However, plot-wise, it’s all a bit hard to swallow. Aside from this, my eye was drawn to a possible ‘Easter Egg’ in the Nazi Corn Syrup TV adverts, which to me bore a distinct resemblance to the ‘Silver Shamrock’ mask ads in Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982).
In that odd sequel, those commercials were created by evil Irish novelty manufacturer named Conal Cochran (Dan O’Herlihy) for the children to don on Halloween and then die in a mass sacrifice to the Celtic Gods.
Well it made sense to him, and is pretty close to Hunters‘ own ‘Big Giveaway’… or is that just me? There are in fact TWO major twists at the end of episode ten of the popular new Prime series. And incidentally, Silver Shamrock could also have inspired that ‘Cheddar Goblin’ ad in 2018’s unhinged Nicholas Cage picture Mandy:
